Our staff and instructors at Main Street Martial Arts work on a year-round basis to make sure that your experience at Main Street Martial Arts is the best that it can be. All staff members and instructors are approachable at any time to answer your questions about the school, to address any concerns that you may have, and to support you in every way possible.
We are always looking for new programming opportunities at Main Street Martial Arts. Can you box? Can you dance? Can you play tuba? Do you need a place to have a meeting or hold a workshop, seminar, or conference? What is your martial art, cultural art, or other talent that you would like to share with the community?
We have low-cost or NO-cost meeting space, depending on the nature of your event, that we can utilize as a service to the community. Please Contact Us and let us know what you're interested in doing, and we can make an appointment with you to see if we can work together to make it happen!
Martial Arts Professional Apprenticeship Opportunity
exclusively with Main Street Martial Arts:
Update 6/27/12: We have filled two of six openings with four openings remaining.
We are seeking up to six students ages eighteen-years-old or older up who are interested in apprenticing to become martial arts professionals, specializing in one or more of our disciplines, such as our Samurai Training Arts, Japanese Martial Arts, Olympic Taekwondo, New England Go Academy, or Zen Studies programs, not limited to these examples. If you are moving in from out-of-state, we will help you to find housing before you arrive here. Apprentices are expected to be self-funded, full-time martial arts students who train in all classes, apprentice under the chief instructor, and help with all aspects of running the dojo successfully in order to learn the trade. Apprentices with limited funding may also need to find a part-time job in the community for basic necessities, but you should plan on making sure that you have enough funding for housing and your training for approximately five years before you can expect to be a fully trained, capable, and mature martial arts professional. This is a similar experience to going to college to develop yourself in a career path and then intern or apprentice after graduation until you can enter your field. Interested applicants should send an email to Mr. Michael L. Werth Sensei at

with a letter of intent and a resume. Make sure that you have an updated clean bill-of-health from your doctor and health insurance coverage for the duration of your apprenticeship before entering into a physically demanding training program such as this one. We are interested in meeting you for an interview, which could be conducted via videoconference through Gmail or Skype, if distance is an issue.
The Calm in the Eye of the Storm: Volunteer Opportunity in
The Ultimate After-School Youth Leadership Program:
Update 9/16/12: We currently have three openings available for this volunteer and/or community service opportunity for a local non-profit family community center on the East Side of Providence.
Main Street Martial Arts is actively seeking interns for The Ultimate After-School Youth Leadership Program. This opportunity is currently unpaid, but we expect it to grow into a paid internship for the right candidate. Interns may be eligible for reduced or complimentary programming for themselves or a family member. There are two openings available covering a range of hours from 3pm – 5pm Monday – Friday and/or Saturday afternoon. Job-sharing is possible. Duties include helping with homework for the terrific children from our community who are enrolled in our after-school program. Interns will develop skills that easily transfer to roles as camp counselors, after-school program directors, teacher aids, and similar. Individuals must be capable of handling diverse tasks and multiple responsibilities, moving fluidly from one to the next. They must be able to anticipate and proactively address the needs of children, parents, and teachers. We are looking for a person who is the calm in the eye of the storm; peaceful, watchful, and helpful. Those interested in this resume-building opportunity can learn more by contacting Michael Werth Sensei, Head of School, at (401)274-7672 or via email at

Marketing Intern Opportunity with Main Street Martial Arts:
Update 6/27/12: We have filled two of four openings with two openings remaining.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, recently-graduated business or marketing major in pursuit of a part-time paid internship to develop our marketing and recruiting services for the Southern New England community. This is a one-year committed position, which, depending on the character, spirit, and determination of this individual, could expand to a full-time opportunity as a marketing director, enrollment director, martial arts professional apprentice, or executive director of our Kids' Action League of Martial Artists, Inc. 501(c) (3) organization at the conclusion of the internship. Interns should show a life-time documented interest in martial arts, cultural arts, or sports organizations. Interns are strongly encouraged to enroll as a student in one of our programs so that they participate in, understand, and believe in what we do. We are looking for just the right person for this internship who is here to be a part of our way of life and not just to draw a paycheck. Interns who have served on a volunteer basis first will be given a higher priority in the application process. We recommend that interns live near our facility in the 02906 (first choice), 02903, 02904, or 02860 zip codes with easy bus access or your own vehicle. There are many inexpensive "room for rent" options in the 02906 family neighborhoods near our location. Interested candidates should contact Mr. Michael L. Werth Sensei at
